The Premier League’s Underrated Players

Here is a list of Premier league players who I think may not get the credit they deserve. Enjoy!

Aaron Ramsey-Arsenal

The Welshman endured a difficult start to the 2012-2013 season, playing in unfamiliar positions such as right-wing for the Gunners. Criticised by pundits, and fans, due to his poor form, Ramsey showed great character to bounce back and end the season brightly. This was partly due to playing in his favoured position of central midfield. He played a key role in Arsenal’s 10 game unbeaten run which sealed Champions League qualification. Scoring in the 4-1 victory against Wigan and picking up the fan’s Player of the Month trophy showed the improvement Aaron had made throughout the season. His no fuss attitude and incredible work rate to change his fortunes deserves credit. Expect Aaron Ramsey to be a key player in the Arsenal side in the coming seasons.

Leon Osman-Everton

Having been at Everton all of his career since 1997, he is certainly a fan’s favourite at Goodison Park. A great servant to Everton, he’s been extremely reliable for the Toffees, making 284 league appearances (36 last season). Despite his consistent performances for Everton, he is very rarely in the limelight. He has an eye for goal, scoring 39 goals for the club including an impressive strike in a 2-0 victory against Manchester City last season. His performances have not gone completely unnoticed however. At the age of 31, he finally made his England debut in a friendly game vs Sweden. Everton will be happy to hear that Leon has signed a new deal at club keeping him there until 2015.

Jonny Evans-Manchester United

When you think of players in the current Manchester United side, you think of players such as Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs. The name Jonny Evans probably isn’t the first name that comes to mind. However, the Irishman played a key role as Manchester United regained the Barclay’s Premier League crown. At the relatively young age of 25, the Northern Ireland defender has done a fantastic job of filling the void left by the injured Vidic. A tidy passer and a tough tackler, 23 appearances and 3 goals have capped of an impressive season for Jonny Evans, who is also a product of Manchester United’s youth system.

Kevin Nolan-West Ham United

The West Ham skipper has made a big contribution to his team this season as West Ham achieved an admirable 10^th place in their first season back in the Premier League. 10 goals in 35 appearances for the East-Londoners, it comes as a surprise that he has never been capped for England. His experience, goals and leadership skills have been vital to securing a solid campaign for the Hammers. The 30 year old also played a key role in securing promotion in 2012 in the Championship, being prepared to leave Premier League side Newcastle to do so, suggesting his loyalty to West Ham.

Gareth McAuley-West Bromwich Albion

West Broms attacking players such as Lukaku and Long have played a key role in securing the Baggies highest ever premier league finish, but their defensive record also deserves a mention. Defender Gareth McAuley has been a key member of the West Midlands side’s success last season. Signed on a free transfer from Ipswich, the Northern Ireland international has gone on to make 68 appearances at West Brom. The 33 year old’s experience and reliability has gone down well at the Hawthorns.
