Serie A - Players to watch out for in 2013/14‏ - Part 3

Article by e-Football Serie A Correspondent Daniel Pisani

Every year we are blessed as football supporters to see and marvel in the talent that each league has to offer us all around the world.

In these articles I'm going to look at each team and tell you why the player I have chosen will be the "Go To Man" or even the "surprise package" for this years Serie A season.

So let's now take a look at the 3rd set of players that I believe will pop up and make a name for themselves or be the "Go to Guy" in this years edition of the Serie A:

A.S Livorno Calcio - Marco Benassi

On loan from Inter Milan the 18 year old has a perfect opportunity to stand up and make a name for himself here at Livorno. Having caps for the Italian u18 and u19 sides will help as well as his 6 caps he received for Inter last season. The midfielder will be looking to cement a starting spot in Nicola's side and prove to Inter that he is worthy of the Black and Blue jersey for next season.

A.C Milan - Andrea Poli

Andrea made the switch from Sampdoria for an estimated 3 million Euros. He has been in and out of clubs since 2007 making loan appearances for Sassuolo and Inter Milan. He is now based on the Red Devil side of Milan and will be looking to also impress Cesare Prandelli for the upcoming World Cup. He came through the youth Azzurri system as early as u17's and played in every age group since. he made his debut for the senior side on the 15th August 2012 and also scored his first international senior goal in Italy's 4-0 vs San Marino. He has come into the midfield to replace out-going captain Ambrosini so I expect Andrea to slot in well and make that position his.

S.S.C Napoli - Lorenzo Insigne

This Napoli youth product has been on loan spells to Cavese, Foggia and Pescara but now is looking to cement his presence after a successful u21 European Championship where he guided Italy to the final. Benitez has stated that he is very excited about working with the 22 year old and I'm sure he will be looking to impress the Italian coach ahead of the World Cup as well. He became more of a Napoli figure after the departure of Lavezzi last season and now with the arrival of Higuain it seems as though a great link between midfield and striker in on the books.

Parma F.C - Antonio Cassano

Can the Italian bad boy find his feet again and force his way into the Italian national team set up? I can only hope so. Cassano is on loan from Inter Milan and with an impressive resume that has clubs such as Roma, Real Madrid, Milan and Inter on it, you'd expect him to use his experience this year to help Donadoni's side compete mid table. He will partner Amauri up front who is also been quoted saying he wants his Azzurri jersey back so expect a very angry and determined bunch of strikers at the Ennio Tardini.

A.S Roma - Kevin Strootman

Last season I was very impressed with Erick Lamela so like Pogba they were my favourite 2 in last years edition of the Serie A. But this year Roma have done well for themselves again and bought from PSV Kevin Strootman who is a 23 year old Dutch midfielder. His previous clubs include Sparta Rotterdam, Utrecht and PSV and now he joins the red half of the capital city to strengthen their already impressive midfield that includes Lamela, De Rossi and Bradley. Kevin also needs to lift to maintain his spot in the Dutch set up for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.

I hope Italian Serie A fans are getting excited as much as I am for this season because it is going to be one hell of a great year with names such as Tevez, Higuain, Reina, Llorente and Balotelli gracing the Italian pitches it is sure to be eventful.
Until next time - Keep loving Football
