Norwich opened their account for the 2014/15 season with a confident and comfortable 3-0 win over Watford ahead of another crucial home game against Blackburn on Tuesday night.

The weekend’s game was, in hindsight, all but decided after just two minutes when Hornets defender Joel Ekstrand was sent-off for an elbow on Nathan Redmond.

Although it took Norwich another half-hour to actually break the deadlock the result of the game never looked in doubt.

The result and, more importantly, three quality goals was exactly the kind of performance City required and will fill them with confidence after the lacklustre performance against Wolves the weekend before.

It would be all too easy to dwell on what would have happened if the red card had not been given, or how Norwich took their foot off the gas after the third goal, but getting the win and doing it without any drama was the most important thing this weekend, so let’s not dissect the performance too much and look ahead to Tuesday night’s game.

Blackburn’s start to the season has been inconsistent with a decent opening day (or Friday night) draw with relegatees Cardiff being backed-up with a League Cup loss to Scunthorpe and a 2-1 win over a Blackpool team still struggling to find enough players to field a full squad.

This said, Rovers are a decent team and have shown a lot of fight which has the potential to cause trouble for any team.

Tactically, Norwich will be looking to put in another similar performance to the one at the weekend, which, despite the one-man advantage, showed glimmers of what the Y’Army has been calling for since the early periods of last season.

Similarly, it is hard to see any team changes ahead of this game, with the only doubt being Leroy Fer who is looking increasingly likely to complete a move to QPR.

Hooper and Howson remain side-lined through injury.

Predicted Line-Up: Ruddy, Whittaker, Martin, Turner, Garrido, Tettey, Johnson, Redmond, Lafferty, Hoolahan, Grabben
