Serie A Round Up including UEFA Champions League‏

Article by Serie A Correspondent Daniel Pisani

I really hope the people who call the Serie A boring stood up and took a look at the weekends actions because it was some of the most upsetting yet brilliant moments of Italian football.

AS Roma against showed the Italian public that they are the real deal, now we can speculate as the reason they are so good this year is because they have no mid week European action but I'm not taking anything away from their brilliant perfect start to the campaign.

Now that captain Francesco Totti is out for a month we will see how they cope without their leader but the captain arm band will go to Daniele De Rossi who is more than capable of filling that role.

In the north part of Italy we saw the biggest upset of the week as Juventus went down to Fiorentina. Juve blew a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 in some of the most amazing circumstances. As a Juve supporter I'm sitting their feeling very comfortable with the lead and yes we could have pressed for a 3rd but the team seemed happy keeping possession and letting the ball do the work. Rossi scored the first of the purple come back and then it all changed. Rossi scored the second and Joaquin joined in minutes later to make it 3. But Rossi wasn't done and wanted his hat trick and got it. Juve were stunned and it just shows that a 2-0 lead is the most dangerous scoreline in Football as the momentum can change in an instance.

Now, in the preview, I predicted Torino to beat Inter but this was not the case, a 3-3 was played in Turin and what a great game it was. It all started with the Inter keeper Handanovic being sent off for a last man offence and Cerci stepped up to take it and fortunately for Inter missed. Both teams went blow for blow and Torino hit the lead thanks to Farnerud and 20 minutes later Guarin equalized for the visitors. In the 53rd minute Ciro Immobile put Torino back in front but Inter were having none of that as they again equalised thanks to Palacio 2 minutes later. In the 71st minute Palacio found the net again and what could seem to be the winner as both teams were tiring and not much attacking was happening but the never say die Torino appeared and in the 90th minute Nicola Bellomo got his side level and the match finished in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

In other results:

Cagliari beat Catania 2-1
AC Milan beat Udinese 1-0
Atalanta stunned Lazio 2-1
Genoa beat Chievo Verona 2-1
Hellas Verona won a thriller against Parma 3-2
Livorno lost at home to Sampdoria 1-2
Sassuolo beat Bologna 2-1

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE -

Overnight we saw 2 Italian teams in action as SS Napoli defeated Marseille in France in what Rafa Benitez claimed that Napoli were at 75% when in actual fact to me they seemed even flatter than that which could be down to their tough away loss to Roma in the league.

AC Milan hosted the might and power of Barcelona and didn't upset their fans with a tactical fought out 1-1 draw. It started well for the home side as a Pique mistake at the back lead to Robinho finding the opener but before half time for some odd reason Lionel Messi found himself free on the right and Iniesta found him and we all know what would happen next as Messi passed the ball in the back of the net.

Until next time Guys
