Modou Barrow pens 3 year deal to remain at Swansea

This week Swansea City wrapped up the signing of Leroy Fer and Mike Van Der Hoorn for a combined £6.5 million fee. This makes the Dutch Duo the first two signings of the summer. However, Thursday provided a surprise for many Swansea City fans when Mo Barrow put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Liberty until 2019.

The Gambian born striker came to Swansea at the beginning of the 14/15 campaign and joined the under 21 squad. After proving himself at academy level Barrow was sent out on loan to Nottingham Forrest making 4 appearances, but struggled to make an impact and would later return to Swansea. It would be the same song at Blackburn for the winger in 2015 making 4 appearances and struggling to fit in.

Barrow was struggling and in desperate need of game time when Francesco Guidilin was appointed Swansea manager. Barrow's pace and ability on the ball made him a nightmare for Premier League full backs. As Guidilin began to tinker with the squad Barrow became a more important figure in games and was often the difference maker coming off the bench for Swansea. He would also go on and become the first Gambian to score in the Premiere league. At only 23 Barrow is one of Swansea's brightest stars and will be hungry for more success off of the back of this new deal.
