Following our gritty and extremely satisfying victory at QPR, Chelsea are closing in on another Premier League title. It looked for much of the game that we would drop points, or but for the brilliance of Courtois, even lose. However as championship winning sides invariably do, we found a way to secure all three points. These were garnered courtesy of a neat Fabregas finish, following a delightful interchange between Oscar and Hazard.

As a result, Chelsea requires a maximum of 12 more points to guarantee the title. With such a meagre requirement, the possibility of failure is virtually zero, leaving us with the pleasant task of predicting the date and venue of the trophy presentation. Whilst this may not qualify as a scientific study, it most certainly is a fun exercise to conduct. No doubt everyone will have their own view, but here is the e_Chelseaopinion regarding when JT will be reunited with the Premier League trophy.

18 April: Manchester United (home) e-Chelsea verdict – 3 points. United are finally looking comfortable operating in LVG’s version of the 4-3-3, with Rooney, Mata and even Ashley Young excelling of late. Despite this, I expect a Chelsea victory as the Red’s defence is still too porous for my liking.

26 April: Arsenal (away) e-Chelsea verdict – 1 point. This looks a tough task as Arsenal is the form team of 2015. Unfortunately, you don’t earn silverware for playing well for a couple of months every season, although Arsene Wenger continually struggles with this concept. Whilst a win can accelerate the inevitable, it is likelier the Emirates will be treated to another Mourinho bus parking master class!

29 April: Leicester (away) e-Chelsea verdict – 3 points. Having watched the Foxes record back to back victories, I nevertheless fear they are destined for the drop. Their forwards are not clinical enough and the positional awareness of their centre backs is non-existent. All in all, a nice comfortable away-day awaits the champions elect!

3 May: Palace (home) e-Chelsea verdict – 3 points. Today is the day! With their survival certain, the Eagles squad will mentally already be on holiday, thus providing the perfect opposition for a coronation.

Should our predictions prove to be over optimistic, as has often been the case in the past, there are plenty of points in reserve. Liverpool and Sunderland are still to visit West London, with a trip to the Hawthorns sandwiched in between. All of these engagements appear fairly routine should a point or two be required. Either way, it seems the day of destiny will take place at Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho proving the saying “never go back” does not apply to special ones!
