According to the Daily Star Arsenal are considering a shock bid for Watford captain Troy Deeney.

Deeney signed a new five-year contract with the Hornets in the summer but that is not seen as a major hurdle should arsenal persue their interest in the forward.

The report claims Watford are unlikely to entertain any bids for their star strikers ahead of another considerable increase to the television money received by Premier League clubs.

The 27-year-old has made an impressive start to life in the Premier League, scoring six goals in his last 11 appearances and striking up a formidable partnership with Odion Ighalo.
