As the World Cup is finally underway, I thought I would look at the two Fulham players to watch during the tournament.

Although the two players in question will undoubtedly be moving on before next season, it is still worth making sure we keep our eyes on them! Now the infamous Kostas Mitroglu will be featuring in the World Cup, however from a Fulham perspective, I could not recommend keeping an eye on him as we have seen so little and heard so much.

The players who I am looking forward to watching this summer are Ashkan Dejagah and Bryan Ruiz. During their Fulham careers both players showed glimpses of greatness and in particular Dejagah has shone brightly this season. I would love for us to hold on to both players this summer (which is nigh on impossible) because I really feel that Ruiz could shine in the absence of Berbatov.

Everyone in England will get to have a good look at Ruiz when we face them on June 24th in our final Group game. By this time it could be a huge crunch match and there is nothing to say that England and Costa Rica won’t both be challenging for a qualification spot. Ruiz could provide the difference in his number 10 role. He has shown in patches that he can mix it with the level of players who England will have in and around him, and I think that between the lines, there are few better technicians.

At the other end of the scale we have Dejagah who is head and shoulders above most of his compatriots and will most certainly use his World Cup as a stage to show the world just how good he is. Dejagah wore his heart on his sleeve last season and never gave up – firing in some truly stunning goals in the process – and for this I feel that Fulham Fans should be eternally grateful.

The question is – who will shine brighter on the World Stage and who could help fire their country further into the Worlds Showpiece Competition? We will have to wait and see. One thing is for sure……..this World Cup is already shaping up to be a classic!
