With England knocked out of the World Cup and England supporters heartbroken yet again, many Leicester supporters will still have a keen eye on watching the World Cup with Riyad Mahrez’s Algeria having a chance to qualify to the last 16.
A win for the Desert Foxes against Russia will secure a last 16 spot, and a draw could be enough if South Korea fail to beat Belgium.
It’s great seeing a Leicester City player at the World Cup showcasing their skills and with the last player to be involved in a World Cup being Muzzy Izzet, who represented Turkey in the 2002 World Cup in South Korea & Japan, it’s been a long while coming.
Having initially starting in the first eleven against Belgium and playing 70 minutes, Riyad Mahrez will probably be lining up on the bench again for the game against Russia after Algeria’s impressive 4-2 over South Korea where he was an unused sub.
With the game being played Thursday night at 21:00, I for one will be watching with intrigue and hoping Mahrez gets a part to play and continue to fly the flag for Leicester City. Good Luck Algeria and Riyad Mahrez!
