Liverpool FC: Denis Who?

Well, the first signs are not looking good when we take a gander at the various web-sites when looking for hints about what LFC will be doing in the transfer market this summer! I have long thought that Mr Rodgers is on a totally different wave-length to me and, from what I’ve seen today, that is absolutely correct.
Within a few seconds I read that he intends to give Mario Ballotelli a second season after possibly the worst season any one player has ever had in the red shirt of our beloved club and then, just when we hope to see the first mega-signing being announced, I read that we are about to get somebody called Denis Cheryshev – no, I haven’t heard of him either even though I’ve watched Villarreal several times this year on telly! – for something in the region of £22m. Yes, the noose was heading over the rafters again as those two pieces of news send me over the edge, yet again, with my wife looking decidedly worried! Possibly that’s because I haven’t told her were my Will is!
He’s a Real Madrid player, apparently, but has been on loan at Villarreal and has scored an eye-watering seven goals in thirty-something games for the Yellow Submarine . . . and is currently out injured so he should fit in well with the squad we’ve currently got as some of them are putting in more hours on the treatment table than on that green stuff other players run about on without any problems!
My hint that we could be ten points behind the leaders next year after ten games seem to be coming true before we even get to the end of this season! Who was that Real Madrid winger we got in part-exchange for sending Michael Owen to Madrid? Can’t remember his name but I hadn’t heard of him BEFORE he signed for us and I couldn’t remember his name ten minutes after the only few games he played for us before he faded from the scene. His impact on our club was as prominent as that of our second-best meat pie salesperson!
Are we letting history repeat itself again? United will probably get Bale and we end up with some guy, probably limping and primed for ten games a season, who can’t hack it at Madrid and is looking decidedly average limping up and down the wing in a Spanish mid-table team!!! Sounds just the job for us, to partner Mario Ballotelli as we hope to get to ten goals before Christmas next year.
Our transfer ‘committee’ seems to need a bit of a kick-up-the-backside if that is the extent of their ambitions this year. Whilst the rest of the LFC fans are talking Depay, Carvalho and other cutting edge talents the people who sign the cheques are down at the Poundshop and expecting, no doubt, the team next year to include Sakho, Toure, Lucas, Allen, Lambert, free transfer superstar James Milner and Ballotelli . . . and that Russian guy from Villarreal!
Yes, people are raving about that young kid from Villarreal, a youngster called Vietto, I think, so we apparently plan to go to Villarreal and come away with another of their players who isn’t being raved about or even spoken about.
I hope that our transfer committee aren’t hoping to go away and spend a veritable fortune on players nobody has heard of or who are in their early thirties, in the hope that it will make them look brilliant if and when those players momentarily and initially look good? It patently didn’t work last year, did it?
Mind you, if you listen to Mr Rodgers this season is only a blip and, sooner rather than later, he might just find the tactical switch that makes our hopelessly average squad players look like world-beaters! God Help Chelsea, Arsenal and Co. next year when Toure is another year older and slower, when Ballotelli gets to a goal every twelve games and Sakho finds out that it should only take one touch to control a ball, and not the nine or ten touches he normally uses!

You should stop being an idiot and believing everything the press is telling you, cos sure as eggs is eggs the bastards are lying. In the words of Harry Dickhead Enfield Calm Down.
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I don't believe a word of the web-site rumours I sometimes comment on but they are good for getting people talking about football and LFC in particular, which is what is intended on a web-site such as this. Sooner or later they might get one right but I'm not holding my breath and, whilst I am having serious doubts now about the way LFC is currently going, it won't affect my passion for the club in any way, shape or form . . . even though I'm moaning a lot about some of the Anfield carryings-on at the moment.
Have a nice weekend!
