At Least Suarez Didn’t Score A Hat Trick

Norwich were not supposed to beat Liverpool on Sunday and surprise surprise we lost, however, there were four potential positives.
Firstly and perhaps least importantly, Luis Suarez did not score a hat trick. Hallelujah. Admittedly we did let Sterling score twice and Louis was also on the score sheet, but at least he only got one.
Secondly and perhaps most importantly, Norwich showed the guts and fight the Y’Army has been calling for all season.
It would have been nice if City had not found themselves two goals in arrears after ten minutes, but they were a pair of great goals.
Unlike other occasions this season, Norwich did not roll over as soon as they went behind.
They worked hard for 80 minutes, showed teeth going forward, discipline in defence and almost got themselves back into the game, twice, it is just a shame about the first ten minutes.
The third positive is the Canary’s also scored twice, a rarity this season.
Gary Hooper scored for the first time in 2014 and Ricky van Wolfswinkel was denied yet again by a fantastic save.
Our lack of goals has been a constant bugbear during Chris Hughton’s reign and if we are to drag ourselves out of the relegation mire then Norwich need to get the ball in the back of the net regularly.
The final positive is Norwich are still not in the relegation zone, still two points clear with three to go.
If the Pride of Anglia win next weekend and the current occupiers of the drop zone lose, then City will be five clear with two to play. Tantalisingly close to safety.
Norwich can go into the final three games with confidence on the back of a decent performance against, if we are being honest, what is currently the best team in the league.
Look at it this way, Norwich got the same result against the Liverbirds as Man City did, while Arsenal, Tottenham, Man United and Everton have been on the receiving end of hammerings.
Both team and fans should take heart from the way Norwich performed against the ‘Pool.
Can we beat the Red Devil’s next weekend? Of course we can.
One question does remain however, what has happened to Bassong and Yobo under Neil Adams stewardship?
