So we are now in January and once again im filled with dread as this usually means the clubs owner likes to sell our prized assets currently the player in question is Moussa Sissoko who has had a fantastic start to the current campaign and has attracted glances from Arsenal and french giants Paris St Germain all obviously rumors at the moment also being mentioned is Newcastle United preparing a contract extension for the Frenchman which i hope the latter is true as ive been hugely impressed with his work rate from central midfield and defensively plugging the gaps as and when required.Mike Ashley has a tendency to sell the clubs top stars and spend the very minimum to fill the void left by the sale of the clubs top players could this be the same this transfer window? In my opinion this is going to happen again as he seems happy for the club to languish mid-table with another cup exit and lack of ambition to qualify for Europe so then i ask how do you motivate your squad to put in performances week in week out?

This weekend see's Newcastle travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea where i feel a heavy loss is on the cards after our recent run of results and Chelsea will be looking to exact revenge for the 2-1 result at St James's Park recently and with the absence of Papiss Cisse and Cheik Tiote away on international duty in the African Cup Of Nations this could be a difficult afternoon for Newcastle with an injury hit sqaud who can step up and be counted for me our outstanding players thus far this season have been Sissoko Janmaat and spaniard Ayoze Perez but the burden cant be put on there shoulder's to carry the rest of the team we need more than three players to step up and cause Chelsea problems.

The returning Tim Krul will go straight back in between the sticks after playing 45 minutes for the under 21's during the week so hopefully this will give the back four a little bit of confidence after some questionable displays by Jak Alnwick although a lot of supporters forget hes still learning his trade and i have every confidence he will come back stronger for the experience.

It will be interesting to see if John carver goes with a 4-4-2 formation or he plays with Perez as a lone front man and try to stop Chelsea's free flowing football or does he take a gamble and try to cause another upset? i personally feel the Newcastle team will be set up defensively and try playing counter attacking football whatever his decision every Newcastle fan will wait to see how we line up formation wise.
