Leicester v QPR - e-Football Flashback

Article by e-QPR Correspondent Jeff Mayakovsky

With six changes to the line up it looked like Rednapp was either resting players for Monday's game against Watford or, as he claimed, that one or two were carrying slight injuries. Whatever the inclusion of Maiga continues to baffle, here is a player who has yet to show any confidence in attack and this continued into this match. We showed very little real threat upfront, Zamora for my money would have been more effective.

Leicester looked far from their best but that was still good enough to see us off. One positive was the performance of Kranjcar, he looked like he is returning to fitness and form as we enter the the final stages. Assou- Ekotto got himself sent off leaving QPR 10 men for the remaining 10 minutes.

A short spell in the first half raised our hopes of getting something from the game Kranjcar had a shot deflected for a corner. Yun Suk-Young had a shot on target and then Kranjcar again had a shot saved by Schmichael.

David Nugent scored the winner for Leicester in the second half which killed off our chances.

Overall we looked more solid defensively with just one up front but where are the goals going to come from? It is looking like we are going to have to hope on Austen being fit and on form if we are to stand a chance. Usually the team that comes into the final stages with some good form has the best chance in the play offs, with only three matches left Rangers are leaving it late.

Redknapp is looking for one more win to take us into the play offs, it looks achievable, but we really need to start playing to a sum greater then our parts. Some fans are questioning the constant changes, which does not allow for a team to develop. Perhaps the injuries we have suffered is the real reason for the lack of consistency. The strike force will really need to show its capabilities in Mondays fixture against Watford.
