Crystal Palace Transfer Rumours: Fact from Fiction

Don’t you just love the transfer window? What an absolute merry go round of ‘ifs’, ‘buts’ and ‘maybes’. It’s the same for clubs up and down the country, hoping for a big name signing, or at least some quality players coming into their ranks.

I am already very happy that Speroni has signed for another year, the player is an absolute legend at Selhurst Park and I firmly believe he has another year or 2 left at the top level. Other players that I personally would want to keep before signing any new ones are Chamakh and a big contract extension for Bolasie.

I also would like to wish KG all the best, I know Pullis was a fan but in truth I think we can sign a lot better and if some of the rumours are true we definitely will.

Let’s have a look at targets and who may or may not be good for Palace:

Ruddy (Norwich): A good goal keeper but with Speroni signed hopefully not required. Maybe next season or the one after.

Hangeland (free): Not had a good season, slow and getting on in years, better players out there.

Lescott aka Wolf from Star Trek (free): Would be a great signing but high wages and a lot of interest may scupper a move.

Caulker (Cardiff): A lot of stories flying about and I hope this is true as he’s a great player that Pullis can mould. If we do have a 30 million budget then 8 million to solidify our defence would be money well spent.

Dawson (Spurs): Would be a good buy at 3 million or less but have a feeling Spurs would want 5 million plus, which we will not pay for a 30 year old (well I hope we won’t anyway).

Amalfitano (Marseille): Good player but can’t see us doing a deal for him.

Crouch & Walters (Stoke): For the love of God, I hope this is just paper talk. Both at the end of their careers, dead money.

N’Zonzi (Stoke): I have watched him mature as a player, definitely a Pullis boy and maybe worth a cheeky bid, although I doubt Hughes will let him go cheap.

Livermore (Spurs): Another rumour that won’t go away, a little bit pricey at 6.5 million but he would be a great addition to our ageing central midfield.

Campbell (Arsenal): If he has a great World Cup this won’t happen, but he would be more than welcome at Palace.

No doubt the Daily Star and Daily Mail will be linking Palace with Messi, Kompany and Van Persie in the coming weeks; you’ve got to love their fairytales if nothing else.

I would love to hear back from fellow Eagles and football fans in general about who you think Palace or your clubs should sign.

My personal, realistic wish list is Caulker (8 million), Creswell from Ipswich (5 million), Livermore (6 million), Wickham (6 million) and Campbell from Cardiff (a bargain at 850,000). With Zaha on loan, job done!
