Match Preview: Sheffield United travel to Stevenage

Article by Sam Parry

Nigel Clough will hope for another impressive clean sheet when the Blades take on Stevenage tomorrow. There are no fresh injuries worries and even the possibility of Stephen McGinn returning to the starting eleven.
Clough stated, “He should, unless anything be happens that is, be ready for our next match.”

Many fans will be hoping he can play a part; McGinn has been instrumental in United’s resurgent form. Similarly, the same Strike-duo of Porter and Baxter, looks likely to remain. Baxter has impressed recently after taking his chance in the FA Cup game against Cambridge, a sumptuous volley and followed up with a headed goal last weekend against Swindon.

But the last time the Blades visited Broadhall Way, they came off the wrong end of a 4-0 thumping. Things look very different now and both sides find themselves at the foot of the table. Sheffield United and Nigel Clough will be desperate to gain that back-to-back league win, that will be the key to any hopes of progressing up the league.

Stevenage boss Graham Westley will welcome Filipe Morais and Simon Heslop back after serving one match bans. Whilst Lucas Akins and Peter Hartley look set to return to the starting line up, after missing the last outing through injury.

Aidy White may miss out for the Blades, after picking up a hamstring niggle in last weekend’s game – Matt Hill is expected to deputise. Other than that, Nigel Clough will have a fully fit squad to choose from; Febian Brandy and Shaun Miller are pushing for starts, but expect broadly the same side that beat Swindon 1-0.

Predicted XI

Long

McMahon Maguire Collins Hill

McGinn Coady Doyle Murphy

Baxter Porter
