Did Fergie leave Moyes up the creek?

This season many have suggested that Fergie left United in such a bad way that only the purchase of at least seven new, world-class first team players would see us avoid crashing out of the Premier League to spend the next decade struggling in the Championship.
Now, on the face of it, there could be something to the argument. It’s fair to say that there are players who need to be replaced if not this season then certainly in the next two years.
Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic are all at the end of their United careers; they have also made up 75% of one of the best defensive back lines in European football for the past eight years or so- how do you replace that?
Carrick, our midfield general for almost a decade, belatedly recognised as one of the best in the business, is 31and can’t go on forever at this level.
Nani, one our most creative resources for the last few years, is both getting on and is flat out of confidence, Robin van Persie, even if he is happy and fit, has only a couple of years at best left and Giggs has, at last almost gone.
Then there are also those who are maybe not up to the standard we hoped they would have reached by now like Cleverly, Anderson, possibly Raphael and definitely Fabio and Buttner.
This seems to add grist to the mill of the ridiculous idea that Fergie, being the crazy egomaniac Christ –complex suffering tyrant that people would love him to be, intentionally bled the team dry in order to further demonstrate his own prowess as the greatest football manager ever by leaving his predecessor with an inevitable and dramatic collapse of the team which only last year strolled to the title- due to Fergie’s brilliant management skills.
This point of view is clearly ridiculous of course. Let’s look at what he left us in reality.
De Gea, Jones, Evans, Smalling and Raphael- All international defenders in the very early stages of their careers with another ten years of playing together ahead of them, ably supported by squad players Vidic, Ferdinand, Buttner and Fabio.
Fletcher, Carrick and Cleverly- all international midfielders supported by squad players Giggs and Jones, and flanked by Nani, Young, Valencia, Janujaz and Zaha.
Rooney, and Van Persie up front ably assisted when required by squad players Wellbeck, Hernandez and Kagawa.
Now it’s fair to say that David Moyes has experienced horrible luck over the entire season so far, almost none of it being his own fault. But even the staunchest defender of Moyes like me cannot seriously try to pin the blame on Fergie as some are attempting to do!
Roll on the Champions league final!
