If you’re one to believe the media, you’ll have come to the conclusion that Dutchman Louis van Gaal will be at the helm following this summer’s World Cup.

Of course, nothing is official yet; Tim Sherwood has a contract until the summer of 2015. But the noises coming out of the Van Gaal camp suggest he’ll be managing in the Premier League next season, and refused to rule out overseeing us.

So what would Van Gaal bring?

Top Level Experience:

Van Gaal is one of the most experienced managers out there, managing three of Europe’s biggest clubs in his 23 years of management - Ajax, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Our previous managers hardly had the reputation and familiarity to manage a club of our standards - Redknapp’s teams rarely finished in the top half, AVB was only in the profession for three years prior to joining us, and Sherwood? Well, you get the idea.

Is LVG on his way to WHL?
No Major Changes:

“I’m not the kind of coach who just goes out and buys players for the sake of it. I’m a coach who wants to – and can – improve players”- a quote from the man himself. For years, our new managers dive into the transfer market searching for players to fit into the team of their dreams. Van Gaal, though, will look at the already talented squad we have and develop it into a title winning team.

Success:

From a Spurs perspective, this is the most important aspect. Wherever Van Gaal’s been as a manager, he’s left a trail of glory. In his first job in management, he oversaw one of Ajax’s most successful periods in the history of the Amsterdam club, winning 3 Eredivisie titles, 1 Dutch Cup, 1 Champions League, 1 UEFA Cup and an Intercontinental Cup. At Barcelona, he won 2 consecutive La Liga titles and 1 Copa Del Rey, and won only AZ’s second ever Eredivisie title. In his most recent venture in club management, he won the double with Bayern Munich in 2010, only missing out on the Champions League to Jose Mourinho’s Inter. If the game really is about glory at Tottenham Hotspur, Louis van Gaal is our man.

An Iron Fist:

It’s been a while since the manager at White Hart Lane has been one with charisma, with confidence, someone who’s not afraid to put their foot down. The only recent managers with ‘character’ have been those that really believe in “4-4-f******-2”. We could be led by the man who has passion, who has a desire to win, and certainly has some balls (just ask Luca Toni).

Louis van Gaal, Tottenham Hotspur manager. Just say it to yourself. Wouldn’t it be great?
