As Liverpool face Aston Villa in the Premier League, Sturridge will be making his first start since the recent injury he picked up in the Merseyside Derby late in November.

Sturridge did make an appearance for the Stoke game last weekend and not only assisted Suarez in a fantastic goal but even managed to score himself, reassuring everyone that SAS are still as good as ever. Liverpool managed to beat Stoke 5-3 during a tight game at the Brittania stadium.

Brendan Rodgers announced through his Press Conference on Thursday that Sturridge has been training hard and should definitely be starting fit this weekend.

"His qualities and fitness, aligned with what I've seen in training, I think show that if we needed him to start, he would be able to."

Sturridge is not the only player returning after injury as Joe Allen and Sakho are also set to return after missing 3 recent games through injury. However Liverpool still have a number of players still facing injury such as defenders Jon Flanagan, Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique.

The return of Sturridge, however, couldn’t come quick enough as all football fans dread a trip to the Brittania Stadium, but Liverpool are also set to face Bournemouth the following week in the FA Cup followed by the highly anticipated Merseyside derby as Liverpool face local rivals Everton at Anfield. February also proves to be a challenging month as Liverpool play against table toppers Arsenal. The Premier League has certainly been tight this season so far with every game seemingly making a difference to teams positioning, everyone will want their best players available at the manager’s call.
