Cabaye sale not in vein‏

Ok, so we are now accepting Cabaye's inevitable exit but there is light at the end of the tunnel. To say it could have come at a better time (even with the 5under1and game at the weekend) wouldn't exactly be accurate. Now is the perfect time to move on Cabaye although a replacement needs to get over the line before Friday. However that remains in the hands of our ever capable Director of F***all.

Yes, he did say (on January 20th) that no more Newcastle players would be leaving in the remainder of this window, but we have all come to take things that come out of JFK's foul mouth with a pinch of salt, no more so than the aforementioned Yohan 'Kebab'. Cashing in on Cabaye now as opposed to in the summer almost certainly means getting more money in the clubs (Ashleys) pocket. We are not selling him to a rival in the league either. He is joining the oil rich giants of France to play alongside some of Europe's hottest talents and serious contenders for the Champions League this season, which Cabaye has told us on numerous occasions, is his ultimate goal. Fair play to the lad.

Newcastle United know good business when they see it on occasion. In recent years, under the current regime, we have made a hefty profit from some players we have offloaded. Even more pleasing is the fact that absolutely none of them have lived up to the price tag bestowed on them. Home grown Andy Carroll was helicoptered off to Dalglish's Liverpool for a staggering 35 million, which we saw reinvested in some real quality in the form of players such as Santon, Ba, Ben Arfa etc. A profit of 7 million came our way when Bassong was sold, and now a 16 million profit from Cabaye! Good business?

As I'm writing this, it looks like De Jong is on his way to the club. In my previous article I predicted as much and again I'm predicting great things from the lad. With four day's to go until 'Jim White's tie starts' to splurge all over my computer as we all trawl through the endless coverage of deadline day, we wait with baited breath to see if Newcastle actually do find someone to fill Yohan's boots and move us up the table as this above average season continues.
