Lucas Leiva and Liverpool face another injury
Article by Liverpool Correspondent Emma Rhodes
This weekend Liverpool aim to progress in the FA Cup Competition as they face Bournemouth, but recent injuries may have an impact of the possible success of the Reds.
One of the most recent injuries to occur amongst the team is that of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva, who consistently provides a strong backing for Lvierpool throughout all competitions. Lucas faces a right knee ligament injury which will result in the player being out of first team action for at least 2 months. Lucas was bought on for only 20 minutes last Saturday during their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

The Liverpool star is no stranger to this type of injury and during the 2011/12 season Lucas was out for a number of months after facing a left knee injury due to a ruptured ligament. He has openly spoken about his distress during this tough period and has since bravely tweeted "It is in God's hands' after being assisted off the pitch on Saturday evening.
Liverpool have however recently been reunited with the full SAS as Daniel Sturridge has returned after facing a few weeks off the pitch with his injury as well as Skipper Steven Gerrard also recently returning to the squad after his injury which he occurred over the Christmas period.
With the transfer window still open, Rodgers may look at new alternatives for his defence and midfield as John Flanagan, Daniel Agger and Enrique are also out through injury and defender Sebastian Coates is set to rejoin his former club Nacional on loan. Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson are able to play regularly but these are more offensive players and Rodgers will need a more defensive midfielder.
Just days after the FA Cup clash, Liverpool play host to Merseyside rivals, Everton. Currently sitting 4th in the Premier League Table, Liverpool have performed well this season which may be attributed to the SAS strike force, but the table is looking increasingly tight with every game with Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea all battling above Liverpool at the moment.
