Chelsea v Manchester United – e-Football Preview
Article by Manchester United Correspondent Tony Gillies
Manchester United head into this fixture not where they thought they’d be when the fixtures were released in June. We would have expected a tough game with us both having a realistic chance of challenging for the title, but it’s Chelsea who are chasing for the title and United languishing down in 7th and 11 points behind leaders Arsenal but a positive result here and with 16 games still remaining we could still surprise a few and make a late charge, we’ve overtaken 12 points leads before and have been guilty of throwing 12 point leads away ourselves in the past, so although the chances of us retaining the title are slim, I wouldn’t count us out just yet, but a defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, I think would all but end our chances.

Stamford Bridge hasn’t been our favourite away ground over the past decade or so, we’ve only won 2 games in our last 15 visits our most recent being in the league fixture last season where we raced into a two-goal lead only to be pegged back to 2-2. Chelsea then had Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres sent off before Javier Hernandez grabbed the late winner. We have since played here in both domestic cup competitions last season and lost on both occasions.
Team News
Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will both miss this game through injury, which isn’t ideal as Chelsea are hard enough to break down at the best of times, so I wouldn’t expect a glut of goals from United this weekend, but stranger things have happened.
My predicted line up: (4-5-1) De Gea, Rafael , Vidic, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Carrick, Kagawa, Januzaj, Welbeck.
5 Previous meetings (all competitions)
Aug 2013: Man Utd 0-0 Chelsea
May 2013: Man Utd 0-1 Chelsea
April 2013: Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd
March 2013: Man Utd 2-2 Chelsea
Oct 2012: Chelsea 5-4 Man Utd (AET)
My Prediction
With the strength of Chelsea’s midfield which has been added to this week with the re-signing of Nemanja Matic and our well-publicised problems in the middle of the park, I can only see a Chelsea win this weekend. I’m predicting a 2-0 win for the Blues.

United is looking like a third class team in this season under Moyes. I think, he is not enough to guide a big team like United. But look at Jose, he is doing his best. His team is at #3 position in the league. As a fan of United, I hope we will do the best in the next season.
