26 December - Chelsea 1-0 Swansea City. Chelsea emerged victorious thanks to a solitary goal from Eden Hazard.
29 December - Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool. Chelsea won a close encounter with old adversaries Liverpool with goals from Hazard and Eto’o. Martin Skrtel had given Liverpool an early lead. John Terry made his 600th senior appearance for Chelsea in this game. Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard picked up injuries that will keep them out of the side until the end of January. David Luiz collected his 5th yellow card of the season ruling him out of the game at Southampton.
01 January - Southampton 0-3 Chelsea. The Blues ended the holiday programme in style with a comprehensive victory at St Mary’s. Fernando Torres, Willian and Oscar all on target. Petr Cech’s clean sheet enabled him to equal Peter Bonetti’s all time record of 208 shut-outs for the club.

28 December - Branislav Ivanovic was named Serbia’s Footballer of The Year for the second successive year.
31 December - Annual Financial results Announced – Chelsea announced an operating loss of £49.4 million for the financial year to 30 June 2013. This enables the Club to satisfy UEFA’s break-even criteria within the Financial Fair Play regulations.
01 January - Chelsea completed the signing of Burkina Faso International Bertrand Traore. The 18-year old attacking midfielder has signed a four and a half year contract.
01 January - The winter transfer window opens. Chelsea are strongly linked with a move for Inter’s Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin. Meanwhile there is strong interest in Germany for Chelsea’s out of favour schemer Kevin De Bruyne. Blues midfielder Michael Essien could make a loan move to a Club competing in the Champions League as the Ghanaian was not selected in Chelsea’s 25 man squad for the group stage.

05 January - Derby County v Chelsea – FA Cup 3rd round tie at Pride Park. The match is being televised live by BT Sport with a 14:15hrs (GMT) Kick off. Should a replay be required, this will take place at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 15th January with a 19:45hrs (GMT) Kick off.
