It's no secret that Real Madrid fans were sorry to see Di Maria leave their club this summer. After all, he was last season's leading assist-maker in La Liga and man-of-the-match in this year's Champions League Final.
Well, more than 25,000 Spanish football fans have now voiced their sentiments on all major transfers across Europe and have voted Di Maria's move to Manchester United as the best of all.
The poll, conducted by Spanish newspaper, Marca, sees Di Maria with 17% of the vote, Chelsea's Diego Costa in second with 14% and United's new addition, Falcao, on 13%.
In fact, Manchester United's three additions in the survey (Di Maria, Falcao and Herrera) took almost one-third of the total vote, outdoing every other club in the poll.
Chelsea's three players (Costa, Fabregas and Luis) came-in second with 24.7% and Bayern Munich's four players (Lewandowski, Alonso, Benatia and Bernat) finished third with 17% of the total.
Considering all of these players (with the exception of Lewandowski and Benatia), have plied their trade in Spain, it's good to hear that United's new players have the endorsement of the Spanish viewing public.
It's also good to know that they consider United's additions as good value, particularly when the likes of Fabregas and Arsenal's Sánchez have already made a mark at their new clubs.
Those who watched Argentina put Germany to the sword in this week's international friendly will have seen just what Di Maria is capable of. Adding a goal of his own to three exquisite assists, I'm sure I wasn't alone in salivating over what he'll offer United's attack this season.
So, roll-on 14th September when United host QPR. Perhaps then, we might just witness a little of what the Spanish public have been seeing for years - the mercurial talents of both Di Maria and Falcao.
Vamos United!
