Nigel Pearson declared this upcoming summer transfer window to be a period without that much change, as the strength of the team became undeniably strong. However, the Leicester City boss has already delved into the market and plucked an experienced, international player.

Christian Fuchs, 29, is an Austrian international left back who is known for his strong crossing and direct free kick or indirect free kick specialties. He has played for sides like Vfl Bochum, FSV Mainz 05 and most recently Schalke 04. After 4 years at Schalke, Fuchs has decided it was an appropriate time to move on and transfer to the Premier League, Leicestershire to be exact.

Fuchs’ international career dates back to the early 2000’s, where he appeared in the countries U17 team, where he netted 6 goals. Since then he has appeared in every stage since, and now plays as the captain of his country. Standing at 6 ft 1 in, Fuchs uses his strength to get past defenders and deliver dangerous balls into the box.

Being a City fan myself, I am delighted to see a left back brought in so soon; as it is perhaps the weakest area of our game, with Konchesky dipping in and out of form, and Schlupp destined further up the pitch. Bringing Fuchs in so soon will allow for a whole summer of training and bonding with the squad, so hopefully he will start with a bang. Personally, I think that when you watch Fuchs play, you see his vision – always looking for the forward’s movement. Luckily for the foxes we have Jamie Vardy, a man destined to run onto any lost cause created by a teasing Fuchs delivery. If that’s not enough to sell you on the full back, I should probably mention that he didn’t cost the club any money and Fuchs is actually Austrian for ‘Fox’ – pick that one out.

After ensuring Premier League status, City have been linked with a handful of players; some good, some as bad as Curtis Davis. One of the hottest rumours is our involvement with Mainz striker, Shinji Okazaki, believed to be on his way to the club. Nevertheless, fans will no doubt speculate to their hearts content, even after Pearson has admitted it isn’t going to be a busy summer.

Furthermore, I stand intrigued as to what Pearson will do next; with the whole summer ahead, will the Leicester faithful be introduced to some new faces? Will he strengthen the side with experience or up the tempo with youthful, future stars? Sadly, only time will tell.
