Leicester City - A Season of Safety
Article by Sam Bassett
Our successful campaign in the Premier League for the first time in 10 years, is down to 3 significant factors; the fans, the philosophy and Esteban Cambiasso.
Throughout our meandering season, the Blue Army has stayed true to Nigel Pearson and tried it’s upmost to encourage and improve the results week-in-week-out. We never fell to negative demands like other teams such as Newcastle or Sunderland – who begged for their managers to be axed. Instead, the Leicester faithful remained by the side of Nigel and his boys in blue even when the skies were grey.

Seeing this Leicester faithful up close and actually par-taking in its influence, I was able to really feel what everyone else did around the King Power; love and admiration for the game. I could see what it meant to others as well as myself and gradually we all saw the difference on the pitch. With results against the Baggies, the Hammers, the Toon, the Saints and Rangers, our Premier League status was ensured.
Did you know Nigel Pearson called a journalist an Ostrich? Or did you hear of his aggressive dance with Hull City midfielder David Meyler? Of course you did. The media has scrutinised Mr. Pearson, and picked on his every flaw. Though, I am not questioning the fact that calling someone an Ostrich is a little peculiar, because it is a little odd. However, it still isn’t shining a flattering light on him, nor the club. Any Leicester fan would agree that Pearson knows what he’s doing, as he raised us from League One, to the Play offs, to a Championship title and then Premier League safety.
If you don’t agree with his honours at the Foxes, you must agree that his signing of Argentine legend Esteban Cambiasso was a stroke of brilliance. His influence on the team’s mentality as well as its form is inspiring, and is incredibly vivid when sat up in the stands watching at home. His first season in the Premier League has been a huge success, racking up 5 goals and in turn the overwhelming love from the Leicester faithful; who will no doubt admit he has been an inspired signing and a key cog in the survival of the Boys in Blue. From his time in England, Cambiasso has earned himself the Player of the Year award, as voted by the club’s supporters and personally voted Premier League survival with Leicester City as one of the best achievements in his glamorous career.
However, with Cambiasso out of contract in the summer, the supporters will have to wait or hope for confirmation of a new deal. Nigel Pearson has hailed his performances and effort for the team, but says he will not go as far as pressuring Cambiasso to sign another contract with the club.

It's ludicrous to maintain as you do that 'the Blue Army stayed true to Nigel Pearson.' Significant numbers didn't; indeed they acted in a vile way on Facebook and other social media sites.Nkw, of course, they're trying to rewrite history. And so are you. You need to face the fact that at our hour of greatest need some fans were openly declaring they would prefer to see Leicester lose if it.meant the back of Pearson. It was disgraceful behaviour.
