Liverpool Goal Force

Article by e-Liverpool Correspondent Emma Rhodes

After another successful weekend (just) for Liverpool, thoughts are turned to future games and continuing our goal streak. We started this season relieved that Uruguayan striker Suarez was happy to stay at the club and since his return he has definitely not let us down.

Liverpool have now scored the highest number of goals in the Premiership after putting 4 past Norwich on Sunday and the SAS partnership is working better now than ever. Many are picking up on the fact that Luis Suarez has not scored during a number of recent games, but the fact he is creating and assisting in the majority of these goals seems to go ignored. Suarez has created 9 assists this season, being the highest number so far along with fellow teammate Steven Gerrard and rival, Wayne Rooney.

Despite missing the beginning of the season due to his infamous ban, Suarez is also the highest goal scorer with 23 goals this season, compared to 18 from Sturridge and 15 from Manchester Cities Aguero, proving SAS continues to go from strength to strength, remaining a true threat to any opponent.

Sturridge is also shining as a player especially since Brendan has been moving 19 year old Sterling up to the front creating an SASAS danger which has certainly helped Liverpool with a number of their recent wins including the 5-1 demolition of Arsenal at Anfield.

Sturridge has also become a record holder, scoring in 8 consecutive Premier League games and scoring 22 goals in just 26 matches so far this season through help from his team mates with beautiful passing such as the cross from Steven Gerrard during the Fulham game, proving the midfielder is still showing his team mates how it is done.

The team is certainly looking strong (upfront) and with continued pressure on other teams, Liverpool should definitely be looking at qualifying for European football. The next upcoming games shall be telling of possible Liverpool success as upcoming games include Southampton, Manchester United and Cardiff, but all games are played away as the top 4 gets tighter and more competitive with every week.
