Yannick, Yannick Bolasie

Another transfer window full of gossip is well under way. The majority will be about incoming players. The majority (of that) will be utter rubbish.
Success brings unwanted interest in a club’s star players however. I point to poor Southampton’s plight.
One of our own stars, Yannick Bolasie, has been linked with a move to both Merseyside clubs and most recently Newcastle.
The winger, who Dougie Freedman brilliantly plucked from obscurity at Bristol City and who made Wilfried Zaha’s departure all the more bearable.
He’s raw, that’s clear. His final ball is often lacking and needs honing. But, his flair, pace and power leave full backs quaking in their flash boots.
These attributes are what make him so important to us. The outlet he provides is vital to the way we play. The Liverpool game is the only example you need look at. Without that outlet we’d rarely exit our own half.
The issue is that his contract expires next summer. It’s not for a lack of effort on the club’s behalf – he has been offered a new one.
CPFC2010 and Tony Pulis are therefore posed with a choice – sell him now or risk losing him for nothing. What to do?
The sceptics among us conject that the interest from these “big clubs” is agent-fuelled bluster. A good way to get your client a better deal isn’t it, talking up interest from elsewhere? I wonder how much of this “interest” is concrete.
I, not that it matters, would let his contract run. Having him for the 2014-15 season is worth far more to us than the reported 2 or 3 million transfer fee.
The Palace hierarchy may agree and be willing to lose him for free next year. Apparently no contracts will be discussed once the players are back for pre-season training.
Could one of a fan’s favourites soon be labelled a “contract rebel”?
I hope not. Sign the thing Yannick.

He doesn't strike me as a greedy bloke so I can't see there being a problem. He's already stated he wants to stay so it's up to the club now to give him what he's worth.
