Birmingham City - Home Frustrations

The St Andrews curse finally came to fruition in the 2014 season, usually a solid home team, collecting on average 2/3 of their end of season tally since gaining promotion to the Premier league in 2003 at home. Just 2 league wins at home, coupled with some diabolical performances on the hallowed St Andrews turf during the latter end of the season, leaving all Bluenoses fearing the worst as they visited Bolton on the final day.
After some madness in the final minutes at the Reebok, Paul Caddis became a cult hero, his header kept the second city club in the 2nd division for another season.
Yet, it could of been so different.... Some sublime performances away from home, left some fans drooling, and an unbeaten run stretching to ten matches could have meant a possible play-off push. But, after recalls of Dan Burn and Kyle Bartley to their parent clubs along with Jesse Lingard, meant the spine of the team was shattered to pieces. Those recalls lead to some further loans with players like Albert Rusnak and United defenders Tom Thorpe and Tyler Blackett, less said about those the better.
Some questionable managerial decisions caused anger with the fans and the atmosphere got tense on the home terrace, many calling for Lee Clarks head. Although Clark was not always credited for his hard work behind the scenes, bringing in Talented players Like Federico Macheda and Emyr Huws, not too mention his free transfers in Novak and Captain Paul Robinson. He certainly wasn't afraid to give youth a chance either, bleeding through young talented players like Charlee Adams, Will Packwood, Callum Reilly and Mitch Hancox, that just about kept the fans on his side in what was a disappointing season overall. Never to be repeated!
With a possible takeover on the rise, we can hopefully wash our hands with BIHL.The takeover will no doubt determine weather we are a club pushing for promotion or another destined for relegation next season. Question is, will Lee Clark be the man in charge when the first ball is kicked in August ?

good article, im hoping we get a new owner, i like the aound of Riga as the new boss hbu?
ReplyDeleteAs everything bih does,I can't see a sale happening very quickly so going into next season with an even more deleted squad and new loan players then I think it will be even tougher than the one we survived by 30 seconds.
