What was expected to be a hard match against Wigan away ended in nil nil draw. Rangers defended well throughout the match and frustrated their opponents, except for two chances for Caldwell and Gomez that Green did well to save.
The R's were able to contain Wigan throughout the match in what was solid defensive display. Traore went close from a Hoillet cross, but other then that is was predominantly Wigan who had most of the possession but they were unable to capitalise on it. Nedum Onuha was man of the match for Rangers in a great display that kept the threat from the Wigan forwards under control.
So it is all set up for up for a great night down in the cauldron of Loftus road where it will be packed to the rafters and an intense atmosphere waiting for the visitors. Wigan of course are used to playing in games like these and it is far from over for them.
The R's played to their strengths, they have been good in defence for most of the season, it is up front that that we have hardly shown the sort of flair that the fans have grown up on. There have been only a few matches this season when we have played as well upfront as we have defensively.
Hopefully Austen, Morrison and Hoillet will rise to the occasion and produce the sort of performances that will be needed if we are to get to Wembley. These two sides have only produced one goal in 270 minutes this season and it is hard to see that radically changing in the match on Monday, they are both evenly matched.
It is all set up for what a great contest on Monday evening and Rangers fans will be hoping that our home form will continue and give us the advantage.
